GN01-10 Uplands Entry Level Stewardship - Funding for land management in the Severely Disadvantaged Area (SDA)

GN01-10 Uplands Entry Level Stewardship - Funding for land management in the Severely Disadvantaged Area (SDA)

The final payments of the Hill farm Allowance (HFA) will be made in 2010 as the scheme is now closed.  However, a new grant scheme known as Uplands Entry Level Stewardship (Uplands ELS) will be available to those who manage land within the Severely Disadvantaged Areas of England.  Uplands ELS is not restricted to beef and sheep farmers but is open to anyone who can meet the scheme rules including (but not limited to) dairy farmers, beef and sheep farmers, common land moorland managers etc.

This guidance note will provide information about the new scheme for those thinking of applying as well as providing additional information for landlords.
