THE CONSULTATION HAS NOW CLOSED
The information contained on these pages relate to the Defra Consultation on proposed changes to standards in cross compliance and specifically detail the development of ‘Option B’ in relation to recreating the environmental benefits from set aside. Option B was jointly proposed by the Presidents of the CLA and NFU and more information is provided below.
 
Please be aware that ‘Option B’ is under development and additional information will be published on this website in line with the timeframe outlined below.
 
These pages do not contain any information relating to CLA views on the proposals or CLA lobbying.
 
TIME-TABLE
NFU and CLA have provided an initial indication of the likely timetable for implementation of Option B.
 
      • 20 May 09 – developed proposals submitted to Defra for detailed RIA
       
      • 27 May 09 – submission of additional consultation issues at close of GAEC consultation exercise to Ministers
       
      On adoption:
      • July/August 09 – Campaign commences with the appointment of Campaign co-ordinator and invitations to participate in High-Level Steering Group. Appointment of sub-groups and drawing up of agreed actions to deliver desired environmental outcomes.
       
      • Autumn 09 – Communications campaign initiated to secure early buy-in from farmers for the Campaign objectives.
       
      • December 2009 – first interim report of progress to Defra Ministers.
       
      • Early 2010 – delivery of actions (eg advice programmes, toolkits, leaflets, setting up of demonstration farms etc)
       
      • July 2010 – Campaign submits its second interim report of progress.
       
      • November 2010 – First formal report to Ministers on Campaign achievements

Solicitors Indemnity Fund . Solicitors in the CLA Legal Team are not covered by the Solicitors Indemnity Fund in relation to professional negligence in relation to any advice given by them.
