Seize the day by accepting CRC report’s findings, CLA urges the Government

The CLA is calling on the Government to accept the recommendations in the Commission for Rural Communities (CRC) Report.

The rural economy experts put the full weight of their support behind the findings and suggestions of the CRC Report.

CLA President Henry Aubrey-Fletcher said: "At a time when the overall economy is facing a sharp downturn, the CRC's report highlights the vitality of the rural economy and the extent to which rural business can aid recovery.

"The CLA has said all along that rural businesses are innovators. This is clear from the example of Broughton in Yorkshire. Through innovation and seizing the opportunities available, Broughton has turned itself into a beacon of rural enterprise."

The CLA President added: "Failing to take heed of the CRC's proposals would be a damning indictment of the Government, particularly as it was the Prime Minister who requested the report in the first place.

"I firmly believe that all of us in this countryside have a unique opportunity to grasp the full potential that rural business can provide. Not doing so would be failing the present generation and generations to come."
