Centralised RDPE budgets could ‘strip strong proposals of funding chance’, says CLA The CLA today (1 March) said that rural businesses are best placed to help the Government prioritise its budget for the Rural Development Programme for England (RDPE) 2007-13 in the revamp announced by Farming Minister Jim Paice. CLA President William Worsley said: "I am pleased the Government has taken on board the CLA's concerns about the need to minimise disruption to the RDPE. Transferring the teams to the nearest and most convenient Defra office and ensuring a more consistent approach in the way the RDPE is delivered across the country should help support this.
"However, my real concern is that the combined impact of a significantly reduced RDPE budget and the opportunity to set new priorities will leave some already strong and well-developed proposals without any chance of funding. I urge the Government not to abandon the priorities which already meet the needs of the rural economy."
Mr Worsley added: "Rural businesses are best placed to advise on these priorities and need to be involved from the outset."

Solicitors Indemnity Fund . Solicitors in the CLA Legal Team are not covered by the Solicitors Indemnity Fund in relation to professional negligence in relation to any advice given by them.
