CLA policy director wins major award for commitment to agricultural industry

The CLA is delighted to announce that their policy director, Professor Allan Buckwell, has been awarded the National Agricultural Award by the Royal Agricultural Society of England.

Professor Buckwell has been recognised for his exceptional commitment to the advancement of the agricultural industry in the UK.

CLA deputy president William Worsley said: "We are thrilled that Allan has been recognised in this way, it is one of the most prestigious awards in its field and thoroughly deserved."

Professor Buckwell said: "I've been privileged to work on food, farming and countryside issues throughout my career. I've enjoyed it immensely and have met so many amazing people working in and serving this sector. I was surprised and delighted to be nominated for this award.

Previous winners of the National Agricultural Award include Sir Don Curry, Professor Wynne Jones of Harper Adams University College and Dr Bridget Drew of ADAS.

  1. The Country Land and Business Association has a 36,000-strong membership.

  1. As a membership organisation, the CLA supports landowners by advising them on how best to protect and maximise their asset: the land. We are dedicated to supporting landowners and our success is measured by how effectively we do that.

We have a team of experts in London and a regional structure able to give    local support. We have been looking after the interests of our members, as   well as promoting the positive aspects of land ownership and land management, for the past 100 years.

CLA members own approximately half the rural land in England and Wales, and the resulting expertise puts us in a unique position to formulate policies and lobby effectively.
