CLA appoint Forestry Adviser and strengthen lnks with the FTA The Country Land and Business Association has appointed a new Woodlands and Forestry Adviser and has established an important link with the Forestry and Timber Association.
Judith Webb, who has her own business offering environment and woodland consultancy, management and contracting services, already works for the FTA, but will now take on the part time role at the CLA concentrating in particular on managing the CLA's review of woodland and forestry policy.Judith's main policy and advisory role at the CLA will be: Woodland management policy incorporating the multi-purposes of woodlands - i.e. timber production, environmental and amenity uses Wider forestry policy related to commercial forestry Carbon sequestration of trees Woodland management Technical expertise on commercial forestry, e.g. pest control Sir Edward Greenwell, CLA President said: "Judith brings several years experience in both policy and advisory work in the forestry and woodlands sector in both England and Wales, and will be an invaluable new member of our Environment Team. She arrives at a time when the public's demand on woodlands has increased, but the economic returns have not." "We are also delighted to increase our working relationship with FTA and envisage that this post will be a major step in this process." Robert Scott, FTA Chairman said: "With the countryside under so much pressure, it is vital that organisations representing rural interests work together wherever possible, both to avoid duplication of cost and to ensure that we convey a coherent message. Judith's part-time appointments with both Associations is a positive step forward and I am delighted that her knowledge and experience will now be available to both the CLA and the FTA. Judith will have an important role to play in looking after the interests of woodland owners in England and Wales, for the benefit of members of both Associations." |
