Don't Miss Out On New Deadline For Stewardship Schemes

Don't Miss Out On New Deadline For Stewardship Schemes If you were planning to register for the new package of English agri-environment schemes but feared you were not going to make the 31 May deadline, you now have an extra month to submit your application. Defra's Rural Development Service (RDS) have extended the application deadline for the Entry Level Scheme and the Organic Entry Level Scheme to 1 July. To be eligible for the 1 July deadline potential applicants who are without an application pack must have registered their interest with the RDS and, if needed, be added to the land registration priority queue by 31 May.

A later deadline of 15 July has also been introduced specifically for those who have requested an application pack by 31 May, and who are on the land registration priority queue but have not received application forms by 1 July as a result of any continuing delays.

A letter confirming these details and with supporting information has now been sent out by the RDS to all those who had registered an interest in the scheme. It will also be included with all information packs sent out from now on. Because of the importance of these new schemes to members' income and to the countryside, the CLA met senior RDS staff on 23 May.
