Government seeks to renegotiate match funding commitment As Defra announce their plans to change the rural development regulations, The Country Land and Business Association, the voice of the rural economy, reveals a hidden Defra twist to renegotiate their responsibility to fully match fund CAP subsidies transferred to rural development and environmental stewardship.
"There is a lot to support in the Government's intentions to simplify the rules for rural development and to pay farmers positively for the environmental benefit they provide to the public, rather than in lieu of their declining income."At the same time all those who wish to see a re-invigorated rural economy and a sustained improvement in the environmental stewardship of our countryside should be extremely wary of the Government's intentions to change the rules on match funding. "If this is an attempt to minimise the Government's commitment to supporting these objectives, it will come as a blow to struggling rural businesses, rural communities and the wider country loving public." |

Please note that whilst the advisers are able to advise on a wide range of subjects relating to land ownership, they cannot act in place of a member's own solicitor, accountant, surveyor and tax specialist by, for example, drafting documents or corresponding on their behalf and may be precluded, by the rules of their own professions, from advising one CLA member against another CLA member in the case of conflict.
Solicitors Indemnity Fund . Solicitors in the CLA Legal Team are not covered by the Solicitors Indemnity Fund in relation to professional negligence in relation to any advice given by them.
