Images of england website deadline extended for 1 year

Images of england website deadline extended for 1 year The deadline for home owners to ensure that their listed houses are removed from a public internet site has been extended for another year, thanks to lobbying by the Country Land and Business Association. The original deadline of 30 September 2003 for owners to apply for exemption from the English Heritage site has now been put forward to 30 September 2004. CLA Head of Rural Economy, Oliver Harwood says: 'When English Heritage first announced their intention to publish high resolution photographs of listed buildings on the internet, as part of the Images of England lottery funded project, we were deeply concerned about the implications for security for these houses. The additional threats from burglary and invasion of privacy far exceeded the public benefit of an internet based directory.'

"Following high level representations by the CLA, English Heritage has agreed that the resolution of photographs should be limited and that no photographs should be taken from private land without the consent of the owner. -

'A registration scheme for access to the website is also being introduced, and the deadline to apply for exemption from the site has now been extended for another year. The exemption scheme is limited to occupiers of listed property, but the extension means that owners and their tenants will have enough time to complete the application forms.'
