CLA ‘disappointed’ at lack of Government support for Metal Theft Bill The CLA today (20 January) expressed its disappointment at the Government's decision to object to MP Graham Jones' Metal Theft (Prevention) Bill. CLA President Harry Cotterell said: "We are very disappointed this Bill has been stopped in its tracks, and look forward to the Government setting out its proposals to tackle the scourge of metal theft.
"We supported Mr Jones' Bill because the dramatic increase in metal theft is impacting significantly on communities and businesses in the countryside."
He added: "We will continue to run our 'Scrap the Cash' Campaign to fight for legislative action on this issue. The CLA urges the Government to support amendments to the Legal Aid, Sentencing and Punishment of Offenders Bill which aim to prohibit cash payments and ensure sentencing for metal theft is equal to the consequences of the crime." |

Solicitors Indemnity Fund . Solicitors in the CLA Legal Team are not covered by the Solicitors Indemnity Fund in relation to professional negligence in relation to any advice given by them.
