Gundog world’s stars head to CLA Game Fair 2012 at Belvoir CastleThe cream of the gundog world will gather at this year's CLA Game Fair at Belvoir Castle in Leicestershire from Friday, 20 July to Sunday, 22 July. The CLA Game Fair is the UK's premier summer gundog event and hosts a series of displays and competitions in the International Arena featuring Europe's best teams and daily spaniel and retriever demonstrations. The Working Ring will feature a daily programme of versatility displays and training demonstrations illustrating the wonderful working relationship between the dogs and their handlers.
For the amateur dog handler, the event provides a wonderful chance to take part in the daily Scurries, Pickup and Scramble competitions and to win a prize. Working Tests for Novice Dogs and Handlers and Juniors give owners a taste of what competition is like and enables them to find out if their dogs are up to the standard required.
CLA Game Fair Gundog Chairman Fiona Joint said: "The gundog events at Belvoir Castle are the biggest, best and most exciting ever."
The judges and stewards make up a Who's Who? of the Gundog world. Peter Jones, spaniel judge for the CLA Home International, has shot over spaniels for more than 40 years, made up 24 field trial champions, and won the UK Cocker Championship in 1994.
Fellow judge Alec Coutts has been a panel spaniel judge for more than 25 years in the UK and abroad, making up 10 field trial champions with eight springer spaniels and two cocker spaniels.
The retriever judges will be Tess Lawrence and Allan Schofield.
Tess, who established the well-known Willowyck line of gundogs with Alan Thornton, has successfully trained gundogs for the past 30 years, making up nine field trial champions and representing England at the Skinners International and CLA Game Fair International Events on many occasions.
Tess's crowning achievement was to win the International Gundog League (IGL) Championships in 2007 with her Field Trial Champion Willowyck Ruff, receiving the trophy from HM The Queen. She is also a highly respected KC 'A' Panel Judge.
Allan has been competing successfully for 25 years in the IGL Championships and has made up four field trial champions all with different home-bred dogs. The affix for all Allan's gundogs is Eastdale. He has judged for 16 years and is an 'A' Panel Judge.
Mike Tallamy, well-known for his line of Brindlebay Gundogs, will judge the Euro Challenge with Sara Gadd with whom he runs a joint kennel.
Mike has trained and competed since 1986, winning more than 60 field trials, including the coveted IGL Championships, and making up six Field Trial Champions. Mike and Sara are both KC 'A' Panel Judges in the UK and Europe.
