Woodknowledge Wales - Species Choice SeminarsWoodknowledge Wales, Forest Research and Confor are joining together to run two seminars on species choice. There is increasing pressure on the woodland owner to diversify their species choice. Attacks by disease have always been a concern but climate change may lead to greater susceptibility. Alongside this risk is the demand to create diverse habitats and landscapes.
These seminars will address these issues by focussing on policy drivers, the factors affecting species choice and the ability of Better Woodland for Wales to put policy into practice
Friday 04 June 2010 at Bryncheiniog Forest, Llaneglwys, Brecon: This wood is predominantly an upland site where Sitka spruce has been the favoured choice.
Tuesday 22 June 2010 at Cwm Wood, Rhuallt, Denbighshire: An exposed wood of high landscape value where the site favours larch and pine.
If you are interested in attending the events please contact Frankie Owen, Partnership manager for Wales Forest Business Partnership at: Frankie.owen@welshtimberforum.co.uk or Tel: 0845 4560342. Places will be limited to thirty people per event. |
