A new line in Field Archery targets dedicated to saving wildlife

Archers of Battle in association with ACA (Adrian Caddy Archery) is in advanced discussions with Moira House Girls School in Eastbourne – to build a new line in Field Archery targets, dedicated to saving wildlife.

Moira House Girls School in Eastbourne has an excellent and highly skilled Art Department, members of which have accepted the challenge of designing a range of inanimate targets for Field Archers to shoot in the woods of Crowhurst Park.

3-D Archery targets are traditionally replicas of species which are hunted in certain countries (NOT the UK) and made of dense foam plastic with score zones for competition. Archers of Battle and Moira House School are looking to make targets out of the threats to wildlife and habitat conservation – using themes such as Deforestation, Oil spills, Wetland drainage, poaching etc.

Neither human nor animal targets will be built for a course which is hoped to be used in the recording of Springwatch in 2011. The range will be open to members of the public to learn and develop Field Archery skills at Crowhurst Park, and part of their entry fees will go to the BBC Wildlife Fund; launched during Springwatch 2010.

"You can take the Archer out of Wildlife film production, but you can't take a passion for Conservation out of the Archer.." says Adrian Caddy; former Natural History TV Executive and co-founder of Archers of Battle.

"We'd love to see more people involved with probably the greenest shooting sport there is, and helping us all keep the Wilderness unspoiled".

In keeping with Crowhurst Park's excellent Green credentials (the Park holds a David Bellamy Gold Award for Conservation and is, like ACA, a member of The Game & Wildlife Conservation Trust) Archers of Battle will be hosting more charity events in aid of the BBC Wildlife Fund – and other good causes.

Crowhurst Park's Managing Partner Colin Simmons believes this project to be "a good and positive step towards partnerships that can share the enjoyment of Crowhurst Park's extensive facilities".
