Spring Wildlife Day at Lymington-Keyhaven Nature Reserve on 2 MayOver 350 visitors to the Spring Wildlife Day at the Lymington-Keyhaven Nature Reserve on Sunday 2 May were treated to a jam-packed day of fun and frolics on the New Forest National Park coastline despite the wet weather! This joint event was hosted by the New Forest National Park Authority, Hampshire Country Council and the Hampshire and Isle of Wight Wildlife Trust, to learn more about this fascinating coastline through interesting and educational activities that engaged people of all ages.
Jim Mitchell, Interpretation Officer at the New Forest National Park Authority, said: 'Everyone who came had a great time in the rain; there was so much on offer, many people commented on how much they enjoyed making bird feeders and learning about bird identification and the children really enjoyed the coast themed Junkanoo.
'Thanks to the weather we also got to see an amazing array of birds and visitors were treated to acrobatic aerial displays from Swifts, Swallows and House Martins. There were also plenty of wading and warbling birds around and some people even got to see a Peregrine Falcon hunting.
'Despite the cold and damp weather everyone who visited the Spring Wildlife Day saw that the New Forest coastline can be special in any weather.'
