Farm Crisis Network is a national voluntary organisation with over ten year's experience of support for the farming community. FCN works across the UK through County groups providing pastoral and practical support to farming people during periods of anxiety, stress and problems relating to both the farm household and the farm business. Living with stress has been a major feature of the farming community over the last ten years as a range of changes has had to be faced.    Currently, and nationally, support is being provided to 250 cases a month involving 700 people.

FCN is a Christian organisation and committed to a Christian ethos but offers its support to people of all religions or none.

The meeting on November 2nd will include a short presentation about the work of FCN followed by a discussion about how to take the work forward in Hampshire.  It is hoped that some people attending might want to become volunteers to form a Hampshire county group but we also need people who will be keen to support the work of FCN through their prayers and interest.

Typical volunteers to FCN include people from churches, farmers, clergy, land agents, agricultural advisors ~ individuals who care about the support needs of the farming community.  A volunteer agreement is entered into between the volunteer and the organisation.  A Local Coordinator is recruited to coordinate linking volunteers and people who call for help.  We don't give advice – we "walk with" those who need support.
