ANY CHAMPIONS OUT THERE? £20,000 worth of funding available to each Champion!Once again SEEDA has agreed to fund for a 12 month period in 2008 farmers, growers, or other participants in the rural economy, who are selected to pursue a particular project. £20,000 is available to each Champion. The scheme is managed for SEEDA by the Farming & Rural Issues Group, and seeks to implement aims identified within the Curry Report and the subsequent Sustainable Farming & Food Strategy. Funding: Funding is not for any significant capital expenditure, but can be used to reimburse the successful applicant for time spent away from his/her business and other expenses related to the project. Work done by a third party can be reimbursed provided that such work has been done under the supervision of the Champion. Applicants have to be based within the South East region.
The Opportunities in 2008: A Champion is sought for the development of Anaerobic Digestion systems within the South East region
A Champion is sought for the establishment of best practise in Meat Storage facilities (preferably including the storage of game)
A Champion is sought for the promotion of optimum Bio-security on Livestock Holdings
The Obligation: Champions must allocate some of their funded time (towards the end of the project) to sharing their experience with potentially interested members of the industry
Applications: Inquiries should be made to Shaun Leavey (Chairman Farming & Rural Issues Group) via battlegreen@waitrose.com or 02392 632179 and applications need to be lodged by email before 31st January 2008. Initial applications need only be a CV and a brief outline of the project that the applicant wishes to pursue. |
