Leonardslee Lakes & Gardens - open to the public again in 2010

Leonardslee, the world famous grade I listed gardens near Horsham will be open in 2010. The Loder family are looking forward to managing and running the gardens once more, opening them to the public as usual every day from the 1 April to 31 October. Although recently offered for sale, it proved difficult to find a buyer with the flair to take the gardens, the result of 200 years of creation, forward into the future.

Boasting approximately 200 acres of stunning woodland landscape, and probably one of the most brilliant displays of spring blossoms in the Country make Leonardslee a top attraction to visit in the South East.

Leonardslee occupies a unique position, perched on a Wealden ridge, enjoying delightful views over the valley and to the Downs.  Set in a tranquil valley with seven beautiful lakes, the landscape provides unrivalled opportunities to discover breathtaking views through the shrubs and champion trees.

Leonardslee is also home to the unforgettable "Beyond the Dolls House" collection, an amazing miniature model of Victorian life. Many intriguing automata bring the display to life and the level of detail will keep you hooked for hours. The positive feedback from visitors is overwhelming.

Wildlife abounds at Leonardslee.  Not just the wildfowl and deer: Leonardslee has long been famous for the herd of Tasmanian Wallabies. They have been used as environmentally-friendly grass-cutters for 120 years and in spring, visitors are rewarded by the sight of Joeys peeping out of their mothers' pouches.

Round off your visit in the Clock Tower restaurant, and choose a little piece of Leonardslee from the Plant sales or Gift shop as a souvenir of a lovely day.

Leonardslee lakes & gardens is situated in Lower Beeding, 5 miles south-east of Horsham, and 4 miles from the A23 at Handcross, and roughly mid-way between Gatwick and Brighton.
