Competition for feasibility funding worth £25,000

The CLA is encouraging members to enter the Innovation for Growth in Agriculture, Food and Drink competition for feasibility funding delivered by The Technology Strategy Board (TSB) and Defra.

The programme is designed to support the UK's agriculture, food and drink sectors. The funding provider is looking for solutions to industry-identified problems through the development of innovative ideas, concepts or technologies that will maintain and improve competitiveness and productivity.

Funding will be invested to help stimulate and promote innovation encouraging better and more cost effective systems and processes and delivery of better products and services. The competition is specifically targeted at micro, small and medium-sized companies in the agriculture, food and drink sectors, operating in the UK. Projects must be business-led and may be undertaken by the business alone or with one other business.

There is an overall budget of £500,000 available to be invested in up to 20 projects. Individual grants will be available for up to 100% of the cost and will not exceed £25,000.

Grants will support the rapid development of an innovative idea and demonstrate its practical feasibility in the agricultural (including horticulture) and food and drink sectors. Projects must be aimed at establishing technical feasibility, either preparatory to industrial research or preparatory to experimental development.

The registration deadline is noon 23 May 2012 and the deadline for applications and video submissions is noon 30 May 2012.
