Land required by pig farmersCLA members Sue and Alan Hall seek 40 acres mixed woodland and arable/pasture to expand their rare breeds pig business. The Halls presently lease about 10 acres near Great Haseley, adjacent the M40 Jct 8A near Thame. The business has been built-up from nothing and includes several income streams. These income streams include: • Rare Breed Weaners (Large Black, Middle White and KuneKune). • Rare Breed Pigs for meat, including pork products, bacon and gammon products. • Breeding sows and boars. • Earth worms for land remediation, angling and waste processing. • Composted horse manure. • Worm tea (fertiliser). • Country crafts and lavender products. • Homemade scented soaps.
The business needs to relocate for several reasons, prime among them include the need for: • More land, especially a proportion of woodland, in order to expand all aspects of the business • Long term stability and the core infrastructure on which to invest • Suitable conditions to grow vegetables to support the pigs as well as supplying Farmer's Market outlets and feeding ourselves
The Halls seek a farm business tenancy on suitable land with friendly neighbours and landlord, in order to provide the long term stability to grow their business.
They are particularly interested in evolving the business in a very environmentally friendly way which complements the surroundings, creating synergies with the land and the wildlife, which could lead to the introduction of alternative energy sources and eventual removal of energy grid dependency.
Please contact Alan Hall on 07974 157 247 or e-mail alanhall@t-ip.co.uk if you can help.
