Campaign for the Farmed Environment offers free visits to farmers and landownersThe Campaign for the Farmed Environment is offering free one-to-one visits to farmers and landowners interested in knowing more about the CFE and how they can support the Campaign on their farm. These informal visits provide farmers the opportunity to explore their farms' potential for supporting the Campaign, either through Entry Level Stewardship, Campaign Voluntary Measures or a combination of both. Local Campaign coordinators can work with the farmer or landowner to draft an ELS application using Natural England's online facility and see where potential points might be found. Similarly, voluntary measures can be identified and recorded at the same time as many farmers don't realise many current land practices already count towards the Campaign. Coordinators can also offer advice on where in-field options might be placed, general management advice for chosen options and offer guidance throughout the whole ELS application process. National Campaign Coordinator Victoria Hicks says: 'Farmers often don't have the necessary time to consider all the possible options within ELS or put together an application. These visits are an excellent way of taking some of the pain out of entering into an ELS agreement. Our local advisors have a wealth of experience and knowledge on managing the environment and can ensure the most suitable measures are chosen for the farm in question.' This service has been utilised by many farmers across the East Anglian region. Farmers who have taken advantage of these visits value the ability to explore all potential ELS and Campaign options, under the guidance of CFE advisers, before any prior commitment has been made. If you would like to know more about the campaign or would like to receive a free one-to-one visit please visit www.cfeonline.org.uk or call 02476 858892. |
