Please complete survey and help make the Campaign for the Farmed Environment a success

It is now a crucial stage in the life of the Campaign for the Farmed Environment and your help is needed to make the campaign a success! The second annual 'Survey of land managed under the Campaign for the Farmed Environment current 2010/11 crop year'  is being sent out on 14 February 2011 to 5500 farmers and land managers with 10 hectares or more arable land. The paper form needs to be completed and returned within two weeks of receipt.

The survey will arrive in a Defra envelope so shouldn't be disregarded and it will be accompanied with a pre-paid envelope for return. High response rates (last year the response rate was over 60%) and accurate returns will help Defra continue their work in reducing the frequency with which they have to contact respondents.

Why should farmers and land managers complete the postal survey?

It is really important for farmers and land managers who receive this survey to complete it fully and accurately for two main reasons:

This is the opportunity for you to show how you are taking part in the CFE by including the key target options in ELS agreements, retaining uncropped land and putting in place Campaign voluntary measures.

This is the way in which Defra monitor progress towards the Campaign voluntary measures target to increase the area of land managed voluntarily under Campaign Voluntary measures by 30,000 hectares above baseline levels with a shared commitment to try to go beyond this towards 50,000 hectares (204 000 hectares) by June 2012.

It is important to note that not all farmers and land managers realise that they are taking part in the Campaign even when they are. Therefore all farmers and land managers that receive this postal survey should complete it.
