South East events reportOctober saw the CLA in the South East run a variety of events from farm walks and activity days, to technical seminars and evening talks. In early October 70 members attended an informative seminar on Tax Planning and Wealth Management with speakers from CLA Independent Financial Planners, CLA Tax Management Services, CLA Fine Art and CLA Foreign Exchange. Attendees also enjoyed a tour of the beautiful Loseley House by kind invitation of owner Michael More-Molyneux, and had the chance to see the house in a moment of transformation as it was dressed for the filming of a period drama. In mid October 20 members visited the stunning Danny House in Hurstpierpoint by kind invitation of owner Richard Burrows and enjoyed a remarkable talk on the history of architectural detail by Charles Brooking, owner of the Brooking Collection. Members had the chance to handle an array of architectural artefacts from sash window pulleys and door knockers, to locks and stain glass windows dated from through-out the twentieth century, after which they enjoyed afternoon tea. Also in October Assistant Regional Director Tim Brock and six members partook of a day's archery at Crowhurst Park in Battle, run by expert archer Adrian Caddy. The Kent Branch Golf Day took place this year at the Royal Ashdown Forest Golf Club and 18 members took part alongside Regional Director Rupert Ashby. The day was a success closing with lunch and prize giving presented by Kent Branch Chairman Judith Norris.
