New CLA handbook: Trees and the LandownerThe CLA has published a new advisory handbook: CLA52 – Trees and the landowner (Christopher Price), priced at £22 for members, £29 for non-members. The ownership and management of trees and woodland are issues that affect many, if not most, CLA members. This new CLA advisory handbook, written by CLA Chief Legal Adviser and Head of Policy Services Christopher Price, looks at the main issues that anyone with an interest in the ownership and management of trees and woodlands needs to know. The handbook explains the rights and duties of the owners of trees – everything from the right to collect fruit that has dropped into a neighbour's garden to the circumstances in which a felling licence is required. In addition, comparatively recent law concerning topics such as tree preservation orders, high hedges and the requirement concerning bats and dormice is also covered in the handbook.
