CLA In Your AreaCLA In Your AreaCLA In Your Area

We are the rural economy experts. We speak for everyone who believes in a living, working countryside.

As the only organisation in England and Wales whose sole objective is to safeguard the interests of private landowners and rural businesses, we have two main functions - to exert political pressure and to provide the best advice and benefits for our members.

The CLA's North West team is based in the heart of the region, by the Westmorland County Showground, just two minutes from M6 J36.

This diverse region covers the counties of Cumbria, Lancashire and Cheshire, and has approaching 4,000 farming, landowning and rural business members. They range from countryside enthusiasts to some of Britain's best-known farmers and biggest estates, plus an equally diverse range of rural businesses.

All members are supported by the regional staff who, together with county and regional committees, sit on many groups and respond in depth to consultations on all rural issues.

We take every opportunity to talk face to face with the decision makers - so we can put your case to those who can make a difference.

We are also here to help local members with advice on a range of topics including diversification, grants, rights of way, planning issues, running a rural business and dealing with bureaucracy.

If you have a problem or would like advice, simply contact the regional office - the sooner you call, the sooner we may be able to help you.

There has never been a more important time to benefit from being a Member of the CLA. If you are not already part of our active and growing organisation contact the regional office on 015395 67597 or email info.north@cla.org.uk and make the most of your assets.

Meeting Members
Our comprehensive programme of social and professional events is as popular as ever. As well as the events listing on this website, see the regional pages in Land and Business Magazine and watch out for inserts in Land & Business North West. If we have your email address details will also be sent via our regular enews bulletin.

Your Regional Magazine
Land & Business North West is your quarterly regional magazine, with news and reviews from Members and your local CLA. All Members receive this automatically, but if you would like to see a recent edition online click here. This site is graphics-intensive and requires a broadband connection to work at its best. If you are one of the many in rural areas that cannot yet access an affordable broadband connection, call the Regional Office and we will send you a printed copy, and also visit our broadband section to see what the CLA is doing on your behalf. You may also benefit from CLA Rural Broadband, a proven satellite system that is now available via our member services at a discount to Members.
