CLA pledges support for members as Coastal Access Bill becomes law As the Marine and Coastal Access Bill received Royal Assent today (Thursday, 12 November), the CLA said it would continue to fight for a fair implementation. The CLA has won a right of appeal for landowners and land managers and is calling for Natural England create the new sections of the coastal path in a way that does not damage rural businesses. CLA President Henry Aubrey-Fletcher said: "We will be supporting CLA members who feel they're being treated unfairly and advising them on how to appeal. "We have never supported the coastal access provisions of the Bill. And now it is law, we are determined to ensure it causes as little disruption to coastal businesses as possible." Angus Collingwood-Cameron, CLA North East Director, said: "We will continue to highlight the gross waste of £50 million of public money that this Bill represents. Here in the North East, where people can already enjoy virtually the whole length of coastline, we will be working with Natural England to try and ensure that the problems associated with this unnecessary legislation are not magnified due to the potential for cack handed implementation".
