New surveyor strengthens CLA team in the NorthThe CLA is strengthening its team in the North of England with the appointment of a new rural practice surveyor.Jacqui Stoddart joins the team at Aske Hall near Richmond from United Utilities PLC where she was part of the property team for eight years negotiating with customers, tenants, landowners and agents across the North West. In her new role, she will provide advice and support to the CLA's 6,500 members across the North of the country. CLA North Regional Director Dorothy Fairburn said: "I am delighted to welcome Jacqui onto the team. She has extensive experience in a range of landowning issues and will be a great asset to our members." Jacqui has a keen interest in farming and rural matters having grown up on a hill farm in Teesdale. Her partner runs two small farms near Barnard Castle, County Durham and she spends much of her spare time helping to manage the livestock, maintain property, run the holiday cottage and assist in keeping the farm records. Jacqui said: "In addition to my professional qualifications, I have first-hand experience of the challenges surrounding life in the countryside and am really looking forward to working with CLA members to help them tackle key issues and develop and grow their businesses." |

A farmer’s daughter from the North York Moors, where her brothers still farm, Dorothy has clocked up more than 30 years’ service to the rural economy since graduating from Wye College (University of London) with a degree in agriculture. She qualified as a rural practice chartered surveyor (land agent) whilst working for Savills plc in London and York, dealing with sales and purchases of country houses and estates as well as the management of investment estates for financial institutions. Prior to joining the CLA, Dorothy worked for the National Trust in Yorkshire. There she managed some 30,000 acres of outstanding countryside as well as being responsible for historic houses open to the public and the acquisition of major new properties. Solicitors Indemnity Fund . Solicitors in the CLA Legal Team are not covered by the Solicitors Indemnity Fund in relation to professional negligence in relation to any advice given by them.
