Landowners on fly-tipping alert this weekendRural watchdog, the CLA, says it expects this weekend to signal the start of the fly-tipping season across the Midlands and is reminding people to dispose of rubbish properly, as well as asking that witnesses and victims report incidents to the police.CLA Midlands Rural Adviser Donna Tavernor said: "After a poor Easter weather-wise, and the start of big sales at garden centres, it is likely that many people will be spending the weekend tidying gardens and working on the house this bank holiday. "Regrettably some just can't be bothered to go to the re-cycling centres, and others find that when they get there they won't be allowed to dispose of all they take. Either way the countryside suffers. "People do not realise that the owners of the land where they have dumped their waste will have to remove it – and often at considerable cost. It is certainly not a victimless crime. "We are asking everyone who has waste to dispose of it in a way that is legally and morally correct. "We would also ask anyone who is a victim of fly-tipping or who sees it happening, to take down as much information as possible and report it to the police."
