Rural economy watchdog wants younger people to join up Rural business watchdog, the CLA, is on a mission to encourage more young people to join its ranks.
CLA West Midlands director Caroline Bedell says that the membership organisation is an invaluable source of knowledge for anyone serious about a career within the rural economy. "I've been very keen that we should be engaging with younger people coming into the industry," she said. "I think it's really important that students at Midlands' educational institutes like Harper Adams or any other agricultural college are shown what the CLA is all about and why it was formed in the first place. "It exists fundamentally as a lobbying organisation but it also provides vital generic advice for members." As the principle land ownership organisation in England and Wales, CLA Student membership provides regular news and information on what matters in land ownership and land management, as well as networking opportunities, to those preparing for a rural land based career. The CLA offers Student membership to anyone studying a land related course at a recognised institution, full-time or part-time. The CLA's website www.cla.org.uk gives access to the information that land owners and managers need 24 hours a day. Students who choose to join the rural business body can access this all year round for around £30 a year. Mrs Bedell added: "At less than the price of a pint of beer each month, this is a small price to pay to stay topped up with all the latest information and insights on the issues that matter to the countryside and your studies." Solicitors Indemnity Fund . Solicitors in the CLA Legal Team are not covered by the Solicitors Indemnity Fund in relation to professional negligence in relation to any advice given by them.
