Free Planning Advice for Midland Farmers

A bit like a marriage, applying for planning permission should not be entered into lightly or without thought! But it can be worth the effort. That's according to the Country Land and Business Association (CLA) – the rural economy experts.

The rural body says that for your planning application to have the greatest chance of success, you need to arm yourself with the right tools, namely information, support from others and, on occasion, access to expert advice.

Christopher Price, the CLA's Chief Legal Adviser, will be speaking at a Midlands planning event designed specifically for farmers, landowners and rural businesses, on 25th March. The initiative is the brainchild of the Warwickshire Rural Hub - a business support organisation led by farm and rural businesses across Warwickshire and Solihull.

The event, at the Arthur Rank Centre, Stoneleigh Park, Warwickshire aims to explain how to mount a successful planning campaign, and give people the opportunity to speak with legal expert, Mr. Price and Planners from local authorities. It will also reveal how to take advantage of the 'Redundant Buildings Grant Scheme', newly introduced into Warwickshire and Staffordshire.

The CLA's Mr. Price said: "Every farm and rural businesses in the Midlands will sooner or later find itself engaging with the planning system and all its complexities, so it is vital people know what they are doing.  There is plenty of information and advice out there and its available from a whole range of sources – right through from the internet to highly specialised consultants - but you need to know what is necessary and right for you."
