Company keeping an eye on the game at CLA Game Fair Country sportsmen visiting this week's CLA Game Fair at Ragley Hall, Warwickshire, can raise their game – by taking advantage of the most innovative service available on the 500 acre site. Flint and Partners, optometrists with four outlets across the West Midlands, run an innovative Sports Vision option which offers a customised sport specific eye examination but today (Friday July 23) the company were awarded the CLA Game Fair award for the most innovative service provided by any of the 900 plus exhibitors at The Game Fair the world's biggest countryside event. Flint and Partners was founded in 1935 and now operates as a group of independent practices in the West Midlands and South Staffordshire. They combine the very latest technology, such as Digital Retinal Photography, with more traditional methods to deliver knowledge of Sports Vision which is unique to the area. The company – who are attending their first Game Fair - were runners up at the industry awards for the Sports Vision Practice of the Year and Edward Lyons, the group's sports vision optometrist, says their research shows that vision and sport are directly linked - and, therefore, deficiencies in one or more of the key visual facets equates to reduction in performance. The technology can be used for any sport which requires hand-eye co-ordination. "Next year we plan to introduce a visual screening element so that we can help sportsmen – such as shooters with master eye difficulties. Over 82% of all sensory information is visual – only a part of this relates to how clearly people see, but it also involves Binocular Vision, Dynamic Fixation, Spatial Awareness, Depth Perception, Tracking and Eye Dominance. "When the difference between coming first and second, can be as little as hundredths of a second or fractions of a millimeter, having that visual edge is all important," he said. "An important role of The Game Fair is to encourage and highlight the exceptional development and innovation which goes on in our sporting traditions – and as vision is a critical factor in successful shooting this service is a prime example of how modern technology can improve your performance at even the highest level," said Vincent Hedley Lewis, chairman of The Game Fair management board. The company determines people's sport-specific visual strengths and weaknesses and offers appropriate advice to overcome any problems. "The clay lines at The Game Fair offer one of the largest and most comprehensive events of its kind in the UK and I'm sure that a service of this kind is going to be really valuable," said Mr Hedley Lewis. |
