Rural watchdog’s gift of learning Rural watchdog charity, the CLA Charitable Trust, has donated much needed cash to an agricultural college in Shropshire. The CLA has awarded the Bruce Wilson North Scholarship to Harper Adams University College near Newport, which goes this year to Eleanor Leivers from Nottinghamshire. Eleanor, 19, from Southwell, has just started her first year of a Rural Enterprise and Land Management course, and she will receive her gift of learning on 10 Feb at a Harper Adams award ceremony. Director of the CLA Charitable Trust, Peter Geldart, said: "I am delighted that Eleanor, the second scholar to win the Bruce Wilson-North award, is already more than justifying the Trust's choice and we look forward to supporting her during her time at the College." CLA West Midlands director, Caroline Bedell, said: "To date the CLA Charitable Trust has awarded grants well in excess of £1.25 million and I am very pleased we are able to help yet again with funding within the rural education sector. "It is a charity with a difference and deserves to be recognised for the work it achieves with people from our region." The CLA Charitable Trust was founded by CLA members in 1980 to promote education about the countryside for young people from towns and cities. It also provides facilities for people with disabilities so they can enjoy the benefits of rural life. |
