Caroline Bedell MRICS FAAV – Director Midlands![]() Caroline leads the Midlands team and has overall responsibility for the management of the CLA’s regional business and membership.
A qualified Chartered Surveyor respected throughout the industry, she also represents the CLA on a wide range of regional committees and panels.
Debbie Nicholson – Midlands Events Organiser![]() Debbie helps to organise the many and varied events that are held across the Midlands. She has many years' experience working in the dairy industry and has worked for the CLA in the past on a variety of projects organising training events and seminars. Mike Ashton – Communications Manager![]() Mike has worked in communications roles for the CLA for over ten years and has extensive experience in PR and marketing in the public and private sectors.
He is responsible for regional communications with members and the media and firmly believes that the CLA is about people, and that its strength comes from its members. Donna Tavernor – Rural Adviser![]() An experienced rural advisor who advises members on subjects including the environment, fly tipping, forestry, NVZ, stewardship, single farm payment, water framework and planning. Donna is also Midlands lead on the Campaign for the Farmed Environment. A past YFC County chairman, Donna has a Countryside and Environment Management degree, a Masters in Land Management - and owns sheep. Jan Hewes – Regional Co-ordinator![]() Jan has eleven years’ experience within the CLA and is the first point of contact for the eight regional Branch Committees.
Jan takes the lead in arranging lobbying and briefings with MPs, MEPs and decision makers in the region and is also PA to the Midlands Director. Amy Dale – Regional Administrator![]() Often the first point of contact for members, Amy is a highly experienced administrator and provides much valued support for the Midlands team. Stuart Jones – Membership Co-ordinator![]() Your contact for membership queries in Derbyshire, Leicestershire, Rutland and Staffordshire. Richard Goodwin MRICS – Rural Surveyor![]() Richard advises members on a range of issues including HS2, agricultural tenancies and licences, NVZ regulations, planning & diversification, field sports, rights of way and access, cross compliance, Single Payment System, compulsory purchase, boundaries and land registration, animal health and welfare, and agri-environment schemes. In the event of any advice given by any CLA staff adviser being given negligently or otherwise being incorrect no liability whatsoever is accepted by the CLA or its officers or by its staff advisers concerned
(a) towards any person who is not the current CLA member to whom the advice was directly given,
(b) to any person in the respect of consequential loss or loss of profits, or
(c) to any person for any sum exceeding £50,000 in respect of any one enquiry (whether made or responded to orally or in writing and whether dealt with at one time or over a period of time).
Any person making use of the Advisory Services accepts such restrictions. Members should refer to appropriate professional advisers in private practice before taking any particular course of action potentially or actually involving any substantial amounts of money.
Please note that whilst the advisers are able to advise on a wide range of subjects relating to land ownership, they cannot act in place of a member's own solicitor, accountant, surveyor and tax specialist by, for example, drafting documents or corresponding on their behalf and may be precluded, by the rules of their own professions, from advising one CLA member against another CLA member in the case of conflict.
Solicitors Indemnity Fund . Solicitors in the CLA Legal Team are not covered by the Solicitors Indemnity Fund in relation to professional negligence in relation to any advice given by them.
