DerbyshireA message from your Chairman, David Merton: As a committee we look to represent your best interests both locally and nationally, but are only able to do this where either we, as committee members, or Caroline or her team receive direct communication from you as to both the good and bad issues that affect your day to day lives and property issues. I urge you therefore when you have queries and problems to let us know, as so often you will not be alone and with the CLA becoming aware of the issue appropriate action can be taken. There is no better example of this than the campaign for ‘scrap the cash’ which aimed to ban dealers from making cash payments for scrap metal. This started as the odd phone call and was picked up locally and then turned into a national campaign successfully highlighting the issues that affect land owners. Please note that whilst the advisers are able to advise on a wide range of subjects relating to land ownership, they cannot act in place of a member's own solicitor, accountant, surveyor and tax specialist by, for example, drafting documents or corresponding on their behalf and may be precluded, by the rules of their own professions, from advising one CLA member against another CLA member in the case of conflict.
Solicitors Indemnity Fund . Solicitors in the CLA Legal Team are not covered by the Solicitors Indemnity Fund in relation to professional negligence in relation to any advice given by them.
