Nicola Currie – Director East![]() Nicola has a Post Graduate Diploma in Advanced Farm Management from the Royal Agricultural College (RAC) and seven years experience as a Tenant Farmer, building up a pedigree dairy herd from scratch. She has also spent time in professional practice in Estate and Farm Management. This background has provided Nicola with a useful grounding to work for the interests of the CLA East region’s farming and rural businesses. Tim Isaac – Rural Surveyor & Assistant Director East![]() Tim has a degree in agriculture and is a qualified Rural Surveyor, specialising in farm and estate management. He lives on his family's farm in Essex. Tim advises and represents members on business management and lobbies all levels of government on key rural issues. Tim Barnes-Clay – Press & Communications Manager![]() Tim manages media relations for the CLA in the East of England.
He trained in Broadcast Journalism and worked at radio stations in East Anglia and the Midlands before becoming a Reporter and Motoring Correspondent for the Mirror Group's L!ve TV network.
He went on to work for ITV where he presented, reported and produced programmes at Central Television in Birmingham.
Tim then moved into freelance motoring journalism and PR and uses his expertise to ensure the CLA gets its messages into digital, print and broadcast media outlets. Tim Woodward – Regional Surveyor![]() Tim trained at the Royal Agricultural College (RAC), and has practiced as a Rural Surveyor for over twenty-five years, specialising in estate management and advising institutional, charitable, and private landowners.
He was the Regional Rural Surveyor for the National Trust in the East of England for eight years and has recently spent time on a consultancy basis as Interim Chief Surveyor for the CLA at Belgrave Square in London. Caroline Fardell – Office Manager![]() Caroline worked for the BBC, the Football League and Essex County Cricket Club before joining the CLA.
The role of the Office Manager is varied but generally Caroline co-ordinates the East region team’s activities, organises events and supervises the CLA branch committees.
Caroline lives on a farm and her spare time is spent looking after and riding her pony and walking her two dogs.
As a qualified Dog Listener, she enjoys helping owners solve behavioural problems with their dogs.
Neil Wilson – Territory Manager for Lincolnshire & Nottinghamshire![]() Neil was brought up on a family farm in Lincolnshire. He gained an HND in Agriculture at Harper Adams Agricultural College, worked as a Farm Foreman and then Farm Manager on large scale mixed arable and livestock farms in the county. This gave him a thorough understanding of all the issues facing both farming and rural businesses as well as a great appreciation of rural life.
Neil joined the CLA as a Field Officer and is now the Territory Manager for Lincolnshire and Nottinghamshire. Verity Hawkins – Territory Manager for Beds, Bucks, Essex, Herts, Middx & Northants.![]() Verity joined the CLA as a Field Officer following a previous career in agricultural education, farm management and farm consultancy.
She was instrumental in the development of the CLA London Branch and was the London Branch Manager for its first successful eight years. Verity is now a Territory Manager covering Beds, Bucks, Essex, Herts, Middx and Northants. She is keen for people in these counties to call her directly on 07702 928864 to find out more about CLA membership. Bernard Pentelow – Territory Manager for Cambridgeshire, Suffolk & Norfolk![]() Bernard returned to manage the family farm near Wisbech after training in agriculture at Writtle College. Having set up a contract farming agreement he worked firstly for Greenvale Foods before becoming ADER’s (Agricultural Development in the Eastern Region) Project Officer for Cambridgeshire. His interests include supporting local sports teams, savouring regional food and drink and harnessing the power of social media. A keen Twitter user Bernard can be found tweeting @blueberntwo.

Maisie Jepson – Rural Adviser![]() Maisie will lead on agri-environment schemes, biodiversity offsetting, CFE, designated environmental areas, rural grants, pollution, protected habitats and species, and weeds
Her degree is in Conservation Biology and Ecology, but Maisie's personal focus is on the agri-environment, so she is also knowledgeable about Environmental Law and Energy Policy. William Wilson – Regional Co-ordinator![]() William joined ICI from Newcastle University and worked for the company in East Yorkshire, Lancashire, Northumberland and Suffolk.
Before he joined the CLA as a Membership Officer he was a self employed Business Adviser, Marketeer and Coach.
William is responsible for managing CLA local shows and ensuring member events run smoothly. Liz Burch – Regional Administrator![]() Liz grew up on a stud farm in Newmarket - the heart of British horse racing. She trained with an international firm of chartered accountants in Cambridge and has worked within the bloodstock industry, including managing the accounts and administration for a major international horse exporter. Outside of work Liz is married with three children, the youngest of whom is in the Household Cavalry. She also has two Labradors and likes to spend the weekends on the North Norfolk coast. |

Solicitors Indemnity Fund . Solicitors in the CLA Legal Team are not covered by the Solicitors Indemnity Fund in relation to professional negligence in relation to any advice given by them.
