Centenary Photo Competition a resounding Success

Centenary Photo Competition a resounding Success

The CLA Centenary Photography Competition – in association with Smiths Gore – has proved a resounding success with judges praising an unusually high standard of entries. The competition, which hoped to illustrate the many ways in which landowners and managers maintained and enhanced the countryside obviously sparked the imagination of many a photographer, as you will see here.

Starting in January, monthly winners were chosen by visitors to the Smiths Gore Website, each receiving a food hamper. Regional and national winners were chosen by a panel of judges including Henry Aubrey-Fletcher, CLA president, Jonathan Young Editor of the Field magazine, professional photographer Charles Sainsbury-Plaice and Mark Fogden and Shelly Cash of Smiths Gore.

The national winner, Mary Plank of Bucklesbury, Berkshire receives £500 and a day’s photography tuition with Charles Sainsbury-Place of Agripix Rural Photography. The national runner up Peter Guy, of Poulton-le-Fylde, Lancashire receives a day’s photography tuition with Charles. The nine regional winners will each receive a free annual subscription to The Field magazine and under-18 winner Gemma Bason, of Rawcliffe Yorkshire, receives £100.
